Our initiatives focus on improving the health of Taney and Stone counties through substance-specific education, community outreach, and prevention campaigns.

Alcohol

Alcohol is the most commonly misused substance in Missouri. Nearly one in five adults in Taney and Stone Counties reports binge drinking, and local data shows many youth remain unaware of the risks associated with misuse.

Cannabis

Cannabis is one of the most commonly misused substances among both adults and youth in Taney County. Many students report viewing peer use as “cool,” a perception that has increased since legalization. At the same time, awareness of cannabis-related risks—especially among younger populations—remains low.

Safe Prescription Drug Storage and Disposal

Each year, about 50,000 emergency room visits result from children ingesting medications not meant for them. We educate communities on safe storage, proper disposal, and the prevention of accidental poisonings.

Youth Involvement

The ADAPT Youth Club empowers young people to share their voices and shape community decisions. Participants build leadership skills and contribute to positive change across Taney and Stone Counties.

Vaping and Smoking

Evidence does not show vaping is safe, and underage nicotine use has risen with the growth of e-cigarettes. Students report easy access, while many adults use vaping to try to quit smoking. Across both counties, many residents want to quit but report limited access to effective cessation resources—especially youth.

Community Involvement
